Jess Harding (Love Islander) before-and-after non-surgical ‘nose job’ – how it differs from surgical rhinoplasty?

Jess Harding is one of numerous Love Island alumni who have discussed their tweakments. Some recent social media posts show before-and-after images of Jess’ nose, sparking conversation around non-surgical nose filler.

What is non-surgical nose filler?

Non-surgical nose filler, also known as liquid rhinoplasty or a liquid nose job, is a cosmetic treatment that uses dermal filler to subtly reshape the nose. When injected with precision, filler can smooth the appearance of a dorsal hump and create the illusion of a straighter bridge, all without surgery.

Unlike surgical rhinoplasty, non-surgical nose filler doesn’t require general anaesthetic and usually involves very little downtime. The results typically last between 9 and 18 months. Some find this treatment provides them with the option to refine their facial profile without making a permanent change. Furthermore, dermal filler can be dissolved if needed and appropriate, which means that results may be reversed.

However, it’s important to remember that this is still an injectable procedure and does carry risks. It is sensible to receive this treatment from a qualified, suitable, and safe individual.

What is surgical rhinoplasty?

Surgical rhinoplasty, commonly referred to as a nose job, is a surgical procedure that permanently reshapes the nose. It involves making precise structural changes, which can refine the shape of the nose.

Surgical rhinoplasty is performed in an operating theatre under general anaesthetic. In England, this must be carried out by a GMC-registered doctor operating in a CQC-regulated facility

Mr Sirhan Alvi, an NHS ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) consultant and facial plastic surgeon, offers this procedure in Hale. Members of the public can request a free consultation to learn more

The procedure can address concerns such as a prominent dorsal hump, a drooping nasal tip, or asymmetry. Because the underlying framework of the nose is altered, the results are long-lasting and typically permanent.

It is essential that the procedure is performed by a suitably qualified, experienced surgeon following a thorough consultation to assess suitability, expectations, and safety.
