Will I Be Awake During The Lower Blepharoplasty Procedure?
In general, Mr Alvi will perform lower blepharoplasty under local anaesthetic, while awake; however, the eyelid area will be numb.
In some cases, lower blepharoplasty may be performed under general anaesthetic, for example when combined with upper eyelid surgery. Deciding which option is best can be discussed during a consultation with Mr Alvi.
What Is Lower Blepharoplasty?
Lower blepharoplasty, sometimes called lower eyelid surgery, is a surgical procedure that treats the lower eyelid area by removing or repositioning fat, and where needed, trimming a small amount of excess skin.
It is commonly used to treat:
- Persistent under-eye bags, which can develop due to ageing
- Deep lines or hollowness which may arise because of fat pocket bulging.
Lower blepharoplasty can be performed alongside upper blepharoplasty as a combined procedure for suitable candidates, giving a more complete refresh to the whole eye area in a single surgery.
