Is Upper Eyelid Surgery Right For Me?

Upper eyelid surgery can be highly effective – but it isn’t right for everyone.

You May Be a Good Candidate If You:

  • Have excess upper eyelid skin that looks heavy or droopy

  • Feel your eyes appear tired despite feeling well

  • Notice makeup sitting unevenly on the eyelids

  • Want a subtle, natural-looking improvement

It May Not Be Right If You:

  • Would benefit more from non-surgical or alternative treatments

  • Have unrealistic expectations about results or recovery

The main types of blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) are upper blepharoplasty, lower blepharoplasty and combined.

  • Upper blepharoplasty – surgery performed on the upper eyelids.

People may choose this to reduce heaviness or drooping of the upper eyelids, which can create a more refreshed appearance.
  • Lower blepharoplasty – surgery performed on the lower eyelids.

This may be considered to reduce puffiness, under-eye bags, or mild sagging, helping the eyes appear more rested and youthful.

Combined upper and lower blepharoplasty – surgery performed on both upper and lower eyelids.

Mr Alvi generally will perform upper blepharoplasty under local anaesthetic, which means you will be awake during the procedure but the eyelid area will be numb

In some cases, upper blepharoplasty may be performed under general anaesthetic, where you are asleep for the procedure. If you are interested in a general anaesthetic approach, you can discuss this with Mr Alvi during a consultation.

Procedure Details

What Is Upper Blepharoplasty?

Upper blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that rejuvenates the upper eyelids by removing excess skin.

This restores a more open, refreshed appearance to the eyes.

Commonly performed to address drooping or hooded eyelids caused by ageing or genetics.

What Happens During Surgery?

1. Marking & Anaesthetic

The natural upper eyelid crease is carefully marked, and a local anaesthetic is applied to numb the area and maintain comfort throughout the procedure.

2. Removal of Excess Skin
Excess skin is removed and the eyelid is reshaped to create a more open, refreshed appearance.

3. Closure & Same-Day Discharge
The incision is closed using sutures. The procedure is completed as a day case, allowing same-day discharge.
